Many waitresses and open tables but waited 10 minutes to be seated then another 10 to place order. Food was cold when finally delivered and then had to hunt down waitresses to get the bill.

I don't usually write reviews, but I've never had an experience like this before at a restaurant. I was on a road trip from Daytona beach to ohio, and our family was just looking for a quick restaurant to get our food and then get on the road again. When we walked in, the smell was unpleasant but that's just me. It was rather cozy, and our waitress was a saint. She took great care of us, was very sweet, and made us feel comfortable. The food was ok, it was something to fill me up but it made me incredibly sick after eating it and I don't know if I can eat the same foods after that. Maybe it's because I'm not from the area, but people were just staring, giving me mean looks and just being plain mean. I was at the buffet getting my food, and one of the waiters was getting the same thing of me. I politely moved over and gave her the spoon. I then heard her go over to another waiter, saying stuff I couldn't really hear, but I made out the words "she was in my way" as if Im not a customer paying 73 dollars for the food just trying to get some damn mac and cheese 🫩 I left feeling sick, anxiety higher than a kite, and rather angry. I know not every place is the same, but this was just my experience.

I really don't know where to start about this poor establishment. We should have gotten back in our car and drove to another restaurant when we walked to the door and employees were out at the side of the restaurant standing around smoking. The owners and managers should be ashamed of what they are offering the public here. The staff were friendly and appeared to be happy but that is the only positive thing that can be said. We stopped here more out of nostalgia. As kids Shoney's was a household name and a treat to enjoy. This establishment is far away from what Shoney's used to represent. The health department needs to look closely at this location. (This is not a joke.) I would say it is borderline dangerous. Not one item on the buffet was fresh, not one. The soup "bar" was not operational. And the dessert "bar" was filthy. Your shoes would stick to the tile as you moved around the buffet. What little was available was clearly days old. The few salad items were wilted with some items browning. The chicken was extremely tough, dry, and unedible. The one bun for the sliders was rock hard and toppings were old and the onions were actually shrinking up and brown! Our waitress gladly brought out additional buns when asked. The sliders were undercooked and the freshness of the meat was questionable. No one was caring for the buffet to ensure that the food presented fresh and hot. The biggest offerings here were the beenie babies. The place inside is run down however the air vents in the ceiling around the yellowed ceiling tiles were surprisingly clean! Why we stayed and ate is a valid question to ask. I'm truly thankful that we didn't get sick though some investigation would no doubt reveal that people often get sick from eating here. This place should be avoided at all costs!
